I read this book as the third in the Rabbit series (Rabbit, Run, Rabbit Redux, and then Rabbit is Rich). My book group chose Rabbit, Run out of curiosity about books by the recently-deceased John Updike.

I was inspired enough to continue with the series. By far, I enjoyed this book the most of the three/5. Rabbit Is Rich is a novel by John is the third novel of the tetrology that begins with Rabbit, Run, continues with Rabbit Redux, and concludes with Rabbit at is also a related novella, Rabbit Remembered ().

Rabbit Is Rich was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the National Book Award for Fiction inas well as the National Book Critics Author: John Updike.

Describing Rabbit's experiences of American life in the late 70's and early 80's, Updike treats us to a giant banquet of a book.(Actually a series of books: I read Rabbit is Rich and then this one, virtually together)Cited by: But Rabbit's having trouble with son Nelson, the kid has brought a girl back from college with him—and there's yet another girl, left behind (and pregnant), whom he'll soon have to marry.

Nelson's plight, to his father's eyes, seems pathetic, spoiled, distasteful (too much like young Rabbit's messiness?). After all, Rabbit is now rich.

Rabbit, Run is a novel by John novel depicts three months in the life of a year-old former high school basketball player named Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom who is trapped in a loveless marriage and a boring sales job, and his attempts to escape the constraints of his life.

It spawned several sequels, including Rabbit Redux, Rabbit is Rich and Rabbit at Rest, as well Author: John Updike. Set twenty years after Rabbit, Run and ten years after Rabbit Redux, Rabbit is Rich is a hilarious and touching story of middle age and middle America.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award The hero of John Updike’s Rabbit, Run, ten years after the events of Rabbit Redux, has come to enjoy considerable prosperity as the chief sales representative of Springer Motors, a Toyota agency in Brewer, Pennsylvania.

The time is Skylab is falling, gas /5(11). I read Rabbit, Run and Rabbit Redux and they were both excellent, but never got around to reading Rabbit is Rich, so I looked forward to the audio book. However, I should have listened closely to the sample first.

The narrator demostrates perfect enunciation, but is totally lacking inflection and emotion, making the story very difficult to follow.
